Inspired by watching electronic duo Orbital at NX Live, Newcastle on their national tour in March 2023, Niel’s painting, Selfie, captures the spectacle and atmosphere of a energetic, crowded gig, where there are often as many phones in the air as waving arms.
Selfie was painted over a number of weekends in early 2025. “This was a larger painting than my last one,” Niel explains, “so progress was slower. But that’s also the point. I don’t want to rush my paintings. There’s a lot of joy to be found in slow art. This piece captures a very special night seeing Orbital with my two adult daughters. It was fantastic being able to share my love of Orbital with them – and to see them enjoying it as much as me!”
A2 (42 x 59.4cm) signed and Limited Edition Prints of 100. The artwork is unframed and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
Printed onto fine art Giclée using Epson’s 8 colour archival UltraChrome K3 pigment inks renowned for their superb lightfastness and printed onto the finest quality digital fine art paper from Hahnemuhle. This particular print was produced on William Turner 310gsm 100% cotton paper.
